We are pleased to share our latest legal insight,โ€œCommercial Courts and Arbitral Appointments: A Promising Reform at a Crossroads,โ€ published on Legal 500.

The article examines an important moment in the continuing reform of Bangladeshโ€™s commercial dispute resolution landscape, focusing on the development of specialised commercial courts and the framework for arbitral appointments.

These reforms have the potential to strengthen the efficiency, predictability and credibility of commercial dispute resolution in Bangladesh. The article considers, however, whether the emerging framework will fully realise that potential, particularly where court-led commercial dispute resolution intersects with the independence and effectiveness of arbitration.

At a time when Bangladesh is seeking to strengthen its position as a destination for investment and cross-border commerce, the institutional framework for resolving commercial disputes will remain an important part of that conversation.
